The insurance excess is NZ$2,000, however this can be reduced to NZ$250 by paying an extra $10.00 per day or zero excess by paying a further $5.00 per day (minimum 4 days hire required). Vans are slightly more expensive. Excess is NZ$2000 for driver aged 21-25 and NZ$3000 for drivers under 21. Excess of NZ $2000 for damage caused to vehicle during hire. Full excess not required in cases of minor damage.
